8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
This community event has grown in size every year and helps fund local charities and outreach programs in town by donating 100 percent of the proceeds raised.
“One $75 sponsorship is equal to feeding four families,” stated Richard Allen, Jr., Chair of the Special Events Committee for the BOR.
Working alongside the Gifts of Love Coalition, the BOR helped feed 200 needy families last year on Thanksgiving.
“Each family is given a Turkey, ham and all the fixings, right down to the whipped cream on the pie,” stated Allen. “Our goal this year is to feed 250 families.”
The organization also uses the funds to purchase supplies for public schools in Southeast Volusia. Backpacks, pencils and paper are personally delivered to each school for both students and teachers at the beginning of the year.
This year’s Golf Tournament is a scramble format and will be held at the Hidden Lakes Golf Club on Friday, April 12 at 12:30 p.m.
“We are so thankful for all the local restaurant support,” stated Sandy Shaw, member of the Special Events Committee for the BOR.
Over 20 restaurants are donating delicious entrees including beef brisket, clams, oysters and much more.
If you are interested in participating as a golfer and/or sponsor, you can contact Rich Allen at 386-690-5081 or Hidden Lakes Golf Club at 386-427-4138.
