90 Homes Damaged in Terra Mar Tornado

The National Weather Service assigned last night’s tornado in Edgewater an EF scale rating of one based on wind speeds reaching between 86-100 miles per hour.

90 homes were damaged throughout the waterfront community of Terra Mar Village, totaling $1.7 million in estimated damages. Five homes were completely destroyed, 40 have major damage, 17 have minor damage and 28 have very minor damage.

Armitage Plumbing and DNH Roofing arrived on the scene early this morning to help clear debris and cut fallen trees, while American Red Cross organized meals and gathered toiletries for residents.

terra mar village, tornado, nsb observerThe Terra Mar Village HOA will host a meeting tonight at seven o’clock at their clubhouse to discuss the next steps in rebuilding their community. Pat White from the Volusia County Emergency Management Division will speak at the meeting and provide information about recovery to residents.

Local companies who donated food, toiletries and water include: Chick-fil-A, Big Planet Pizza Pub, Dunkin Donuts, Ocean Properties and Home Depot.
