A Hands-On Lesson in Journalism
The children and their parents were treated to a hands-on experience by the staff of the museum and the NSB Observer. The kids began by learning from the museum’s Research Librarian, Dave Miner, about the NSB Observer’s original printing press housed at the museum.
Next they heard from editor Tiffany Evers about the differences between the original printed newspaper and today’s online version.
Finally, the kids headed upstairs to the Sheldon Research Library where they explored the newspaper’s archives and selected the articles for this week’s Page in History feature.
The Scouts watched as a story was published to the NSB Observer’s website and saw first hand how news is readily available at our fingertips.
