A Little Bit of Texas in Edgewater
Country Music band Little Texas, whose hits including “Kick a Little” and “God Blessed Texas” helped earn them the Academy of Country Music Award’s 1994 Vocal Group of the Year, will headline a free concert on Saturday, March 23rd, at the Edgewater Riverfest.
The Riverfest kicks off on Friday evening, March 22, with carnival rides at Kennedy Park from 6 to 10 p.m. and entertainment by Brickyard Road on the main stage starting at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, business vendors will line beautiful Riverside Drive, between Kennedy Park and Menard May Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last year more than 100 local businesses set up at the Expo portion of the event.
Taking advantage of the riverfront location, the event will also get people out on the water. On Saturday, there will be kayaks and stand up paddleboards for people to try free of charge as well as kayak and paddleboard races which are free and open to all ages. People will also be able to cheer on their City’s team in the Mayor’s Cup Challenge at 2:30 p.m. at Menard Park. The 2nd Annual Tug Boat Race will highlight Sunday’s events at Menard Park. That race starts at noon, but people can get there early and enjoy a pancake breakfast prepared by Cudas Unhooked.
The event also features an Arts & Crafts Show that will run both March 23 and March 24. The carnival will be open Friday night, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be great local entertainment featured on the Menard May Park stage all day Saturday and then the main stage music will get started at 4:30 p.m. with two awesome opening bands to warm up the crowd for Little Texas.
Little Texas has had several Top 10 hits over the years including “Some Guys Have All the Love,” “What Might Have Been” and “Amy’s Back in Austin.” They were nominated in 1994 and again in 1996 for a Grammy Award for Best Country Group. They also were nominated for the Academy of Country Music Awards for Video of the Year in 1993 and New Vocal Group in 1992 as well as American Music Awards in 1993 and 1994.
Pack your lawn chairs on Saturday, March 23, and plan to spend the afternoon and evening enjoying some great music on the shores of the Indian River. Grab some delicious food from one of the gourmet food trucks and relax as the sun sets on what promises to be a great day of fun for the entire family.
The Edgewater Riverfest is presented by the Edgewater Expo, Inc., a non-profit organization of local business owners, residents, and City representatives dedicated to promoting Edgewater as a family- friendly, business-friendly community located on the beautiful Indian River.
This year’s event sponsors include Advanced Air & Heat, Bert Fish Medical Center, FPL, Boston Whaler, K&S Printing Co., Dustin’s Bar-B-Q, Chick-fil-A, Best Western and more.
