ACA Turns Art INsideOUT

Artists from across the globe came together for a three week residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA) in New Smyrna Beach. This week marks the end of the 148th Artists-in-Residence Program with featured Master Artists: Carolyn Forché - poetry/memoir, Pat Oleszko - visual and performance art and Richard Teitelbaum – composer.

aca, nsb, beach, observerThe essence of Atlantic Center’s Artists-in-Residence Program is to provide talented artists the opportunity to work and collaborate with contemporary masters. Selected through a competitive application process by the master artists with whom they wish to work, these associate artists, usually made up of university professors, post-graduate students, professionals, or full-time artists, come from around the world.

During their stay, the artists will spend a portion of the day working with the master artist and their group in meetings, workshops, casual conversations and other activities. They are free to spend the remainder of their time pursuing their own projects with ACA resources available 24 hours a day.

The residencies culminate with “INsideOUT,” a public presentation of works-in-progress developed during the residency.

This is when the public is invited to take a glimpse into the creative minds of the featured artists. The next INsideOUT closing reception is on Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the ACA Joan James Harris Theater and artists’ studios, located at 1414 Art Center Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. This event is free and open to the public.
