Citizen Program Meeting
To boost volunteer participation at monthly events, the City of New Smyrna Beach Police Department will hold its monthly Citizen Volunteer Program recruitment meeting at the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.
Each month, nearly a dozen events and activities attract residents and visitors to the NSB Waterfront LOOP and other areas of New Smyrna Beach. The City also is hoping these activities will draw the interest of people interested in lending a hand as event volunteers.
Program volunteers will receive specialized training by the City’s police department, according to Police Sergeant Christopher Roos. Civilians will learn parking enforcement, crowd and traffic control, and neighborhood patrol. In addition to special events assistance, volunteers also may receive training in records management and receptionists duties.
Uniforms and equipment will be provided.
No experience is necessary. However, volunteers may not have a criminal history.
