netLearn the skill and grace that goes along with this fun hobby at the Canaveral National Seashore.  If you have a cast net, please feel free to bring it with you (we will provide a few nets).  Bring water and insect repellant.  Meet at the Visitor Center dock.

Pontoon Boat Cruise: The Backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon @ Canaveral Visitor Center

Take a leisurely cruise to the places that lend character to this vital estuary.

We’ll see lots of wildlife and enjoy some of the same views as river steamer passengers saw in the 19th century.

Our comfortable pontoon boat, Tortuga del Sol, and our licensed captains and experienced mates are trained to provide you with a memorable and safe tour.

Join us as we depart from the Visitor Center, weather permitting.  RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED and SPACE IS LIMITED.  A cost recovery fee of $20.00 per person is charged. There is a 50% discount for each holder of Senior or Access passes.  Children 15 and under are free.

Reservations will begin a week before the canoe date.  Join a guide as you explore this rich and diverse estuary up close.  Some experience is preferred.  You must be at least 8 years old and able to paddle.

You must wear covered shoes (no sandals, flip-flops or Crocs.) Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Dress to get wet.

Individuals with their own kayaks or canoes are welcome to join in.

Paint Your Art Out – Picasso-Style Portraits @ The Hub on Canal

picasso portraitsUsing the style made famous by Pablo Picasso, you’ll create a fun and colorful geometric painting of yourself or a partner! Bring your mom, your friend, your husband or wife or paint a self portrait! Learn a little something about cubism and leave with a fun avant-garde art piece sure to be a conversation starter!

Everyone will leave class with a completed 16″ x 20″ acrylic painting suitable for framing. This is a great class for all levels of experience.

Class size is limited. Please register in advance and arrive 10-15 minutes before class is scheduled to start.

Art Stroll / Gallery Walk @ Canal Street Historic District

art strollOn the first Saturday of the month, artistic vendors set up along the historic street.

A free concert also is scheduled from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Christmas Park.

Galleries feature solo and group exhibitions and artist talks in the Douglas Avenue area of the district from 4-7 p.m.

Admission is free.

Christmas parkLive music will be offered in an intimate setting in the Canal Street Historic District.

Music lovers may enjoy a free concert by Bob Thames Saltwater Soul.

Christmas Park is on the corner of Live Oak and Canal streets in New Smyrna Beach. Bring a lawn chair.

Cinco de Mayo @ Flagler Avenue

cinco de mayoBreak out your sombrero and come celebrate Cinco de Mayo at this Mexican food-themed progressive street festival and tequila flight tasting!

It’s the Fun Coast’s biggest with up to six bands and sombrero decorating stations, located along Flagler Avenue. The fun starts early with special Mexican-inspired lunch and dinner specials, a special tequila tasting event after dinner, and tons of free give-aways all night long.

Flagler Avenue’s Progressive Tequila Tasting will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. inside sponsor locations. Passports will be available for sale on-site the day of the event.

So gather your amigos and join the fun at the 6th Annual New Smyrna Beach Cinco de Mayo!
