Halifax Oyster and Music Festival @ Manatee Island
11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

halifax oyster and music festThe Fifth Annual Halifax Oyster & Music Festival has been expanded to a 2-day event and will take place on Manatee Island in the Intracoastal Waterway in downtown Daytona Beach.

Under the management of Al Smith Productions, the festival has been renamed to include one of Daytona’s favorite pastimes: music! The Halifax Oyster & Music Festival is devoted to supporting oyster reef restoration.

“We’re excited to be expanding this popular event to bring more music, more oysters and more fun to Daytona Beach! We are looking forward to attendees enjoying some of our local seafood treasures while contributing to the Marine Discovery Center’s on-going oyster reef restoration project. Besides lots of oysters (and other food options), there will be an educational and interactive Kids Zone, and two entertainment stages. Nationally known music artists The Outlaws and BlackHawk will perform on Saturday and Victor Wainwright and The Royal Southern Brotherhood will perform on Sunday,” said Al Smith.

The 2-day event will feature a wide variety of oyster dishes prepared by local restaurants, raw, shucked and steamed oysters, as well as a number of other food options, live music, liquid refreshments, and hands-on oyster mat construction lessons. Proceeds will fund the Marine Discovery Center’s mission to restore healthy oyster beds to Volusia County’s Intracoastal Waterway and the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA.

Teresa Rogers, President and CEO of the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA voiced her enthusiasm on the partnership, “We are delighted that Al Smith and the Halifax Oyster & Music Festival have chosen the Y as one of their preferred charities, especially with their focus on family friendly activities. We look forward to assisting them with the expansion of the event to two days and a productive relationship in the future.”

In addition to raw and steamed oysters, attendees will be able to purchase foods from several local restaurants. Participating restaurants include Café Heavenly, JB’s Fish Camp, Gene’s Steak House, Sunshine Café, Backyard BBQ Boys, Stone Concessions, Riptides, Life’s A Beach Surf-N-Turf Café and Chef Papa’s Café.

Advance tickets are available on-line here and the day of the event. Adult tickets are $10/per day, children 7 to 12 are $5/day and children under 7 are FREE.

The 5th Annual Halifax Oyster & Music Festival is sponsored by Costa, Lamar, Bright House Networks, SweetWater, Ocean Deck, Fresh From Florida, LandShark, Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, Southern Stone Communications, Bullseye Direct Marketing and Al Smith Productions.
