Summer wouldn’t be complete without soulful blues humming throughout the streets of New Smyrna Beach, and this year, we’re taking things to a whole new level. Prepare yourself for a 3-day, music-filled journey into one of America’s most celebrated and popular music genres. This much-anticipated new event will feature scores of bands playing at multiple locations around town. Rich with history, tradition and diversity, the New Smyrna Beach Blues Festival will be the place to get your groove on this summer.

The entry is $20 for this 3.1-mile run/walk, which includes a raffle and silent auction.

Get ready for a high-flying weekend of colorful fun at the New Smyrna Beach Kite Festival. Located directly on the beach, just south of Flagler Avenue, this event is sure to provide real “fun-in-the-sun” for the whole family.
There will be professional kite demonstrations; friendly competitions; and free lessons and tips for novices, including free kite kits and decorating stations for the kids. Adults and children are also encouraged to bring their own kites.
Admission is free, but registration (on a walk-up basis, the day of the event) is required.

Are you ready to challenge yourself the way our nation’s finest do? Beach Boot Camp, hosted by the Florida National Guard will let you learn what it’s like to “get fit” the Armed Forces way.
Located right on the beach at Flagler Avenue, participants will be able to engage in variety of different individual fitness challenges, as well as a beach obstacle course based upon the actual US Army PT test.
Run for fun, or compete in a variety of age / gender divisions (M/F, ages 12 and under; 13-18; 19-35; 36-50; and 51 and up). The course includes a shuttle run, pull ups, low crawl, tires, push ups, and sit ups.
There will be t-shirts for all competitors and prizes for top finishers. There will also be armored vehicle displays, and a Health and Wellness check with free blood pressure screenings.
Registration for this free event will be on a walk-up basis the day of the event.

Amateur teams will consist of families, friends, co-workers and community groups. All competitors will create their own sand sculptures in 10′ X 10′ plots of cordoned beach. Prizes will be awarded for individual adult, child and team categories, judged by both professionals and local celebrity judges. Sand art professionals will also create magnificent sculptures, showing off one of our area’s most valued natural resources. This is a free event, however spaces will be limited.

Outdoor Movie: Finding Nemo
Here in New Smyrna Beach, we’re proud of our efforts to preserve wildlife and natural resources, and would like to share it during this great family weekend. On June 15th, following the Sand Art Competition and an afternoon of fun and games with Radio Disney, visitors will have a wonderful opportunity to relax and learn about our preservation of Sea Turtles right here in Southeast Volusia County.
Team Members from Canaveral National Seashore and the Marine Discovery Center will host an educational seminar where you have the chance to find out about all sorts of ocean creatures and river critters! Check out shark, whale, mollusk and crustacean exhibits, and get up close and personal with live turtles. Explore the educational opportunities for kids and grown-ups alike, and join in the fun activities presented by the Marine Discovery Center. End the evening under the stars with everyone’s favorite surfer dude, Crush the Turtle, at an outdoor showing of the Disney movie favorite, “FINDING NEMO”.
What better way to kick off a surf competition than a block party? Start shaking your maracas on Thursday, June 20th on Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. This long-standing community “block party” features live bands, food vendors, craft and art stands, surfing displays, surf pro meet-and-greets, a kids zone, and a “tween” zone.

Catch a wave at this always-radical family-friendly amateur surfing event on the beach at the Flagler Avenue beach approach. The spirit of this safe event is fun and beginners are welcome. If the waves do not allow for a successful competition, it is moved to the inlet area in North Beach. Come meet some of your favorite pro surfers, get free surfing lessons and meet new friends while taking in the festive surroundings.
