Outdoor Movie: Finding Nemo
Here in New Smyrna Beach, we’re proud of our efforts to preserve wildlife and natural resources, and would like to share it during this great family weekend. On June 15th, following the Sand Art Competition and an afternoon of fun and games with Radio Disney, visitors will have a wonderful opportunity to relax and learn about our preservation of Sea Turtles right here in Southeast Volusia County.
Team Members from Canaveral National Seashore and the Marine Discovery Center will host an educational seminar where you have the chance to find out about all sorts of ocean creatures and river critters! Check out shark, whale, mollusk and crustacean exhibits, and get up close and personal with live turtles. Explore the educational opportunities for kids and grown-ups alike, and join in the fun activities presented by the Marine Discovery Center. End the evening under the stars with everyone’s favorite surfer dude, Crush the Turtle, at an outdoor showing of the Disney movie favorite, “FINDING NEMO”.
What better way to kick off a surf competition than a block party? Start shaking your maracas on Thursday, June 20th on Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. This long-standing community “block party” features live bands, food vendors, craft and art stands, surfing displays, surf pro meet-and-greets, a kids zone, and a “tween” zone.

Catch a wave at this always-radical family-friendly amateur surfing event on the beach at the Flagler Avenue beach approach. The spirit of this safe event is fun and beginners are welcome. If the waves do not allow for a successful competition, it is moved to the inlet area in North Beach. Come meet some of your favorite pro surfers, get free surfing lessons and meet new friends while taking in the festive surroundings.
