cudas unhooked webThe Cuts for Cudas III fundraiser will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, March 10, near the corner of South Orange and Canal Street, New Smyrna Beach. Haircuts will be provided for a donation. The event also will include musical entertainment, food, and vendors. Cuts for Cudas III is hosted by Cudas Unhooked – a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting at-risk students at New Smyrna Beach High School.

Wine tasting passports are $25 and are available at 113 Flagler, at the tent at Flagler Avenue and Cooper Street, or at the corner of S. Atlantic and Flagler Avenue. Passports include 20 tasting tickets and a keepsake wine glass. Some locations feature both one- and multi-ticket wines to sample. Those who want to share their 20 tasting tickets with a friend may get an additional wine glass for $5. The event coincides with the Flagler Avenue Art Walk. Artists will offer fine art exhibits from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. along the Avenue.

Your Grey Matters 5K Run/Walk @ Coronado Civic Center

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.

The entry is $20 for this 3.1-mile run/walk, which includes a raffle and silent auction.

Beach Boot Camp @ Flagler Ave. Beach Access

Are you ready to challenge yourself the way our nation’s finest do?  Beach Boot Camp, hosted by the Florida National Guard will let you learn what it’s like to “get fit” the Armed Forces way.

Located right on the beach at Flagler Avenue, participants will be able to engage in variety of different individual fitness challenges, as well as a beach obstacle course based upon the actual US Army PT test.

Run for fun, or compete in a variety of age / gender divisions (M/F, ages 12 and under; 13-18; 19-35; 36-50; and 51 and up). The course includes a shuttle run, pull ups, low crawl, tires, push ups, and sit ups.

There will be t-shirts for all competitors and prizes for top finishers.  There will also be armored vehicle displays, and a Health and Wellness check with free blood pressure screenings.

Registration for this free event will be on a walk-up basis the day of the event.

Sea Turtle Odyssey Family Event @ Shoppes at Seaside Station

Here in New Smyrna Beach, we’re proud of our efforts to preserve wildlife and natural resources, and would like to share it during this great family weekend. On June 15th, following the Sand Art Competition and ending with a performance by Radio Disney (5 p.m. – 7 p.m.), visitors will have a wonderful opportunity to relax and learn about our preservation of Sea Turtles right here in Southeast Volusia County.

Team Members from Canaveral National SeashoreMarine Discovery Center, Marine Science Center, and NSB Turtles will host an educational seminar where you have the chance to find out about all sorts of ocean creatures and river critters!  Check out shark, whale, mollusk and crustacean exhibits, and get up close and personal with live turtles.  Explore the educational opportunities for kids and grown-ups alike, and join in the fun activities presented by the Marine Discovery Center.

This long-standing community “block party” features live bands, food vendors, craft and art stands, surfing displays, surf pro meet-and-greets, a kids zone, and a “tween” zone.

Surfari Club Amateur Surf Competition @ Flagler Ave.

surf competitionCatch a wave at this always-radical family-friendly amateur surfing event on the beach at the Flagler Avenue beach approach. The spirit of this safe event is fun and beginners are welcome. If the waves do not allow for a successful competition, it is moved to the inlet area in North Beach. Come meet some of your favorite pro surfers, get free surfing lessons and meet new friends while taking in the festive surroundings.

This isn’t your every day 5K. This one will be along the beautiful sands of New Smyrna Beach, starting from the Flagler Avenue approach and heading south to the 27th Avenue approach. A low-tide start time will ensure a great, hard packed surface for both runners and walkers. Competitive runners will enjoy this timed beachfront race, while families and those just wanting to enjoy the day can opt to walk or stroll. Prizes will be given for top finishers.
