As the City of New Smyrna Beach continues to prepare an application for a new community redevelopment district, a series of stakeholder meetings are scheduled to solicit input from those who may benefit from the district. Meetings are scheduled Tuesday, March 5, in New Smyrna Beach City Hall Commission Chambers, 210 Sams Avenue, New Smyrna Beach. Meeting times are 9 – 10 a.m., 1- 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. The proposed CRA includes US 1 from just north of the municipal airport to the southern City limits, parts of the Historic Westside Community, the Canal Street Historic District, Bert Fish Medical Center, a portion of SR 44 to include the former K-Mart building, and contiguous residential areas. Seating is limited. Reservations are suggested.
Music lovers may enjoy a free concert by Vocalist/Keyboardist Mary Cuchetti from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6, in the Canal Street Historic District’s Christmas Park. The park is on the corner of Live Oak and Canal streets in New Smyrna Beach. Bring a lawn chair.
