Businesses may make the most of their time by participating in the second annual New Smyrna Beach Job Fair from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 14, at the Alonzo “Babe” James Community Center, 201 N. Myrtle Ave., New Smyrna Beach. Participating businesses will have the opportunity to survey a large number of job applicants quickly and inexpensively during the event. They also will be able to network with other employers and cross-promote their business. Space is first come, first served. Advanced registration is required. The cost is $20 per table. Checks and envelopes should be made out to NSB Job Fair and mailed to New Smyrna Beach CRA Office, 210 Sams Avenue.
It will be dine in or take out.
The cost is a donation of $8.00 and dessert $1.00.
The dinner is a dish of meat and rice cooked together with various seasonings that came to New Smyrna with the “New Smyrna Settlement” in 1768.
It has been the tradition of the Historical Society to host a “Pilau Dinner” each year, not only to honor the colonists, but as a fundraiser to support the Society and the Museum.
Business After Hours allows business men and women to connect and network. Chamber of Commerce members and non-members are welcome. Please RSVP.
New Smyrna Beach’s Brannon Center will be the venue for a fund raising event. The Rotary clubs of New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater are the sponsoring organizations of a Jimmy Buffet-styled summer time party named after his restaurants – Cheeseburger in Paradise.
“The net proceeds of this event will fund the clubs’ community support with youth scholarships and youth activities” explained Tammy Owens, president of the Rotary Club of New Smyrna Beach. “We expect this to be a very popular event and encourage everyone to purchase tickets early.”
A fun evening of entertainment (live band), crazy hat and dance contest, tequila and rum tasting. Delight in tasting cheeseburgers and sliders from 14 restaurants plus free beer, wine and soda.
The workshop, titled “Marketing Matters,” will help business owners to understand their products or services, customers, prospects and competitors.
Ned Harper, Daytona State College Small Business Development Center director, will facilitate.
This workshop is sponsored by the City of New Smyrna Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the City of New Smyrna Beach and he Small Business Development Center of Daytona State College.
Space is limited. Advanced registration is suggested.
All settings will be designed by local artists, decorators, merchants and florists. Local merchants also will offer boutiques. Refreshments will be served.
Tickets are $12 and may be purchased at the door. A gourmet boxed lunch is available for $10.
The event is hosted by members of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.).
For sixteen years, the Holiday Charity Ball has excelled in raising funds to benefit local charities, drawing hundreds of attendees from our community. Over $400,000.00 has been donated to support Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels, SE Volusia Habitat for Humanity, and the New Smyrna Beach CAPS Scholarship Program.
Plans are underway for the 2013 Holiday Charity Ball that raises funds to support these three very important area charities. The community has come out in force in the past and I’m counting on you to continue to your participation in this exceptional evening.

You will be challenged to find another event with so many activities. The day’s events start sharply at 10:30 a.m. in the high school auditorium, NSB CAPS will be holding its 8th Annual Cuda Achiever’s Award ceremony, sponsored by Winn Dixie.
We will be inducting into the Legacy Walk legends area, five extremely distinguished alumni who have made their mark in various areas of expertise. The Legacy Walk engraved brick program has raised over $57,000 in its first year and has been dedicated as part of the ceremony.
After the Ceremony come join us for a heaping serving of spaghetti while being entertained by 100+ performers including live music, dancing and a few surprises. Take a break from the entertainment long enough to take advantage of the many great items in the Silent Auction.
