The community is invited to join us for an open house and experience our 10 beautiful acres of ”serenity.” Serenity Springs Recovery Center is a new inpatient drug and alcohol treatment center for males, located right here in Edgewater.
Our 30, 60 and 90-day treatment programs strive to build the spiritual strengths of our clients, by using the best modern and innovative practices such as EMDR.
We also focus on the effective 12-Step based approach to recovery that has been proven most effective in dealing with addiction over the last century.
Serenity Springs houses only ten clients at any given time and stresses the attention on the individual person and is committed to being small, intimate, and affordable with a staff to client ratio of 1:2.
We are currently a private fee-for-service facility that accepts all major credit cards. Financing and partial scholarships are also available.

About the Department of State’s Special Viva Florida 500 Week Exhibit, April 4-6
Florida Archives
Some of Florida’s most historical documents that are rarely made available for public viewing will be on display from April 4-6, 2013, in the Department of State’s Museum of Florida History. These documents include Florida’s original 1838 Constitution and a 1586 map of Sir Francis Drake’s West Indian voyage.
Museum of Florida History and Conservation Lab Tours
The Department of State’s Museum of Florida History will be offering tours April 4-6 of its new permanent exhibitForever Changed, La Florida, 1513-1821, a wide-ranging exhibit highlighting the Native American and Spanish colonial history. The Department of State’s Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research will also be offering behind-the-scenes tours of its conservation lab, which is responsible for the stabilization and preservation of archaeological objects excavated from state land and waters. The lab tours will showcase artifacts encountered on Florida’s archaeological sites, which range from prehistoric canoes and projectile points to Spanish shipwreck materials.

Ponce de León 30o – 8’ Celebration (Ponte Vedra) – At noon on April 2, 1513, it is believed by many that Ponce de León’s navigators logged their ship’s position at 30 degrees 8 minutes, just north of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve’s boundaries. Juan Ponce de León Commemorative Re-enactment & Mass (St. Augustine) – Watch the re-enactment of Ponce de León’s momentous landing along historic downtown St. Augustine followed by a special Catholic Mass conducted at the Cathedral Basilica, of which many church leadership will be presiding. An exact replica of the baptismal font in which Ponce was baptized will be installed in the Cathedral Basilica, to serve as a functional baptismal font for the church. Visit www.staugustine-450.com

1513 The Ponce de León Landing First Contact (Ponte Vedra Beach) – On Saturday, April 6, 2013, the legendary Conquistador Ponce de Leόn will land his expedition at the Guana Reserve. The area around the NSB Waterfront LOOP’s Christmas Park will be transformed into a dance floor later this month. Free Latin dance lessons will be offered as part of Salsa in the Park.
Lessons will be offered on several Latin dance styles. The full schedule includes:
- 6 – 6:45 p.m.: Salsa and zumba party
- 7 – 7:30 p.m.: Salsa, merengue and cha-cha line dancing
- 7:30 – 9 p.m.: Open dance to Latin music
- 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.: A Taste of Salsa (food) contest
Christmas Park is on the corner of Canal and Live Oak streets in New Smyrna Beach.
The event is hosted by the City of New Smyrna Beach and is open to the public.
Lessons will be taught by a professional dance instructor.
Professional Surfing Lessons serving: Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet, New Smyrna Beach and outlying Orlando area.
Located at the beautiful lighthouse point park in Ponce Inlet Florida, we are only minutes south on A1A from the “worlds most famous beach” – Daytona Beach. Here you will find an experienced professional instruction program teaching surfing and ocean skills in a positive all ages environment.
Students will learn paddling techniques, balance and how to read the ocean during this week long course.
Whether it is your first time on a surf board, or you are aspiring to become an elite professional surfer, our team of highly experienced watermen will make your camp experience fun and memorable. Our small camp size is limited to a maximum of 15 surfers per week to increase the amount of instruction you receive.
This summer, local youth can learn to catch a rail at the New Smyrna Beach Summer Skate Camp. The camp offers skateboarding lessons, safety instruction and arts and crafts. Lunch also is provided.
Youth age 6-14 may attend. The cost is $105 for New Smyrna Beach residents and $110 for non-residents.
Registration is ongoing and can be completed at the New Smyrna Beach Recreation Department, 1000 Live Oak Street or online at here.
Skipper wannabes may learn to tack and jib at the annual summer Sail Camp hosted by the New Smyrna Beach Parks and Recreation Department.
Yacht Club members will teach students age 12 – 20 to sail without assistance. Lessons include hands on training on the water, terminology, sailing techniques, wind, currents, safety precautions and more.
The cost to participate is $150 for New Smyrna Beach residents and $155 for non-residents.
Class size is limited to 12 students per class.
All students must bring their lunch, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, sneakers or boat shoes and swimwear.
Each student also must have a type 3 life jacket and training manual. Manuals are $25.

If the waves do not allow for a successful competition, it is moved to the inlet area in North Beach. Come meet some of your favorite pro surfers, get free surfing lessons and meet new friends while taking in the festive surroundings.
