City Meeting Expected to Draw Big Crowd
The NSB Economic Development Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday, June 19 at 6 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall. The two featured topics to be discussed are: A presentation by Rick Karl, the Director of the Volusia County Aviation and Economic Resources Department and a discussion of proposed projects with the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
The presentation by Rick Karl will highlight the efforts to bring a space port to Southeast Volusia. On May 28, 2013, the City Commission approved a resolution in support of this effort. Click here to view this resolution.
The CRA will discuss programs that might be included in their Master Plan. This will cover US 1 from South Street to Tenth Street, the Historic Westside, much of the Canal Street, the North Causeway area, the Airport and Airport Industrial Park, and SR 44 out to Mission and Wallace, including the former K-Mart building.
The CRA’s mission statement is, “To enhance the economic potential of the New Smyrna Beach Community Redevelopment Area through strategic and timely public investments that advance the competitiveness and attractiveness of the area for the business community, visitors and residents of the City.”
