Esther Street Beachfront Park
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly completed beachfront park was held on Saturday, April 20, 2013. City officials and residents braved the strong winds and cloudy skies to join together and celebrate the newest beachfront addition.
Amenities at Esther Street Beachfront Park include: grills, picnic tables, solar-powered bathrooms, a volleyball court, playground, board-walk, walking trails and off-street parking.
Construction on the Esther Street Beachfront Park and Stormwater Improvements Project began in August 2012 and included drainage improvements to reduce flooding in the North Atlantic Avenue area and milling and resurfacing of the roadway along North Atlantic Avenue from Flagler Avenue to Crawford Road, said Tony Otte, New Smyrna Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) director. The seawall was reconstructed and a dune walkover was built.
