Flagler Ave Gets a Facelift
One of the busiest beach access roadways in Volusia County is about to be under construction. Resurfacing of Flagler Avenue in NSB will begin Monday, January 28, and continue through February 12. To avoid disruption of business district traffic during the busiest hours, the Avenue will be closed from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. daily.
During the closures, traffic will be routed to Jessamine Avenue, Resheidat said.
On the first night, work will be on both sides on Flagler Avenue from Peninsula Avenue to Cooper Street, Resheidat said. However, work will move to the section of roadway between Cooper Street and the beach for the remainder of the project.
Also Florida Avenue from N. Peninsula Avenue to Pine Street will be resurfaced at the same time.
“We realize this is an inconvenience for merchants, residents and visitors,” Resheidat said. “But it’s absolutely necessary to preserve the integrity of the roadway system. We feel drivers will appreciate the project once the new surface is in place.”
Masci Corporation is the contractor for the 14-day repair and resurfacing project, which will be contained to the right of way along Flagler Avenue and include crews and heavy construction equipment.
The 14-day project will cost $196,795 and is funded through the City’s general fund.
