New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors (BOR) exceeded even their own expectations during the 8th Annual Golf Tournament, held on April 12, 2013, at the Hidden Lakes Golf Club.

Over 140 golfers, ranging from Realtors to roofers, participated in the event which helped raise $17,000 for local charities and schools in our community.

realtors“The tournament is a great way to network with your fellow Realtors and affiliates,” stated Robert Silvernail, Realtor, Collado Real Estate and first time participant. “This was a great experience and I look forward to playing again next year.”

For an entry fee of $65, the golfers played 18 holes and received free food and drinks for the entire day. Featured holes were sponsored by local businesses and included a signature cocktail and locally catered appetizer.

At the end of the scramble format, golfers attended a reception featuring dishes from over 30 local restaurants and had the chance to watch a slideshow highlighting 250 photos taken throughout the day.

100 percent of the net proceeds are donated to help the BOR feed families in need on Thanksgiving. Last year, working alongside Gifts of Love Coalition, 200 families received the dinner baskets which include “all the fixings, right down to the whipped cream on the pie,” stated Richard Allen, Jr., Chair of the Special Events Committee for the BOR.

A portion of the proceeds also goes towards the purchase of school supplies for public schools in Southeast Volusia County. The supplies are personally delivered to each school for both students and teachers at the beginning of the school year on behalf of the BOR.

This year’s platinum sponsors were State Farm Insuranceand FBC Mortgage.
