Senator Hukill Receives Business Award
On Wednesday, July 10th, Senator Dorothy L. Hukill was recognized for her strong advocacy on behalf of business during the 2013 Legislative Session. Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) Policy Council awarded Senator Hukill with the “Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense Council Champions of Business Award,” a prestigious award given to “lawmakers who were advocates for legislation affecting specific industries.” Senator Hukill was recognized for her efforts in successfully passing legislation that would eliminate the sales tax on manufacturing equipment and machinery.
In addition to honoring Senator Hukill for her support of legislation that will “create jobs, improve our overall economic climate, and make Florida a preferred place for manufacturers to do business,” AIF also recognized Senator Hukill’s instrumental role in “sponsoring and passing Senate Bill 236 (HB 4013), which deletes caps on tax refunds for qualified defense contractors and space flight businesses.”
“I am pleased to receive this award from AIF. During the 2013 legislative session, I worked hard to pass meaningful legislation that will help continue to grow Florida’s economy,” Hukill said. “We have a lot of talent in our state and it is important that we do all we can to keep them here. I look forward to working with our community to continue creating jobs.”
Known as “The Voice of Florida Business,” Associated Industries of Florida is a voluntary business association that has represented Florida employers since 1920.
