Community Before Competition
The recently opened Hub on Canal Street and the well-established Artists’ Workshop are both non-profit organizations who “foster and encourage art and appreciation” by providing workshops, classes and a place for locals to work and sell their art.
On September 1, The Hub on Canal stays true to their central purpose of, Art Creating Community, by hosting an exhibition featuring members of the Artists’ Workshop.
The exhibition is titled, “Unity in a Mix” and opens with a reception during the First Saturday Gallery Walk from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue through October 1st.
The Artists’ Workshop was the first chartered art group in New Smyrna Beach, founded by 15 local artists in 1957. Today, the group continues to grow with memberships in the 100′s.
The Hub officially opened on March 1, 2012 with over 60 artists represented. All 22 studio spaces are leased to artists representing a multitude of mediums, from painters to ceramic artists, videographers to jewelers, fiber artists to sculptors, as well as a few non-visual artists – a writer, an architect and a musician.
The Hub on Canal is open Tuesday – Thursday, 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
